      4th engineer

I was a watch keeping engineer aboard a corvette working 8 hour watches. I was placed in charge of the bilge & sludge system, sea water system, grey water and deck machinery. When I joined I was required to takeover these systems, familiarise myself with them and then complete any outstanding maintenance. All maintenance was recorded and handed over to the second engineer who would sign off the tasks and refresh the lists. Every watch I was required to complete a set of engineering rounds to ensure the safety of the vessel and running machinery. Show less

      Marine engineer

For 4 years I was a marine engineering within the RFA. I was an Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) Which required for me to take over watches on-board a variety of vessels, with safety as my top priority. During a watch I was responsible for the safe running of the machinery and had to complete sets of fire and flood rounds to ensure the vessel was safe . When I joined a ship I was given charge of variety of machines around the engine room which I had to maintain, test, operate and fix when applicable. A maintenance program was used to keep track of any maintenance required. Show less
