In addition, it utilised genealogical data to rule out birth order effects in explaining out-migration from an established district of the Cape Colony. Survival analysis was applied to the detailed, micro-level dataset to achieve this. Furthermore, it examined the potential biasing effects of lifecycle and temporal differences when estimating intergenerational agricultural wealth mobility. Show less

In partial fulfillment of the qualification a major dissertation will be completed in which the sectoral export impact of exchange rate volatility is examined and the interplay of financial development on this conjectured impact is analysed. This qualification will be completed with the full financial support of Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA).
