My dissertation allowed me to undertake a long-term project fully under my direction. This meant I could focus on subjects I found most interesting in previous modules such as Contemporary Employment Relations and Essentials of Managing Human Resources which I directly apply in my current role. Apr 2017 - Sept 2020
      Laboratory technician

·When I was 15, I started working after school and weekends washing glassware such as bottles and test tubes. I quickly moved onto Listeria and Salmonella Brothing, this is part of the process of testing food for detecting disease causing bacteria. In April 2020 I took on full time hours after completing my first year of University and moved up to doing sampling which involves taking an exact weight of a variety of foods using sterile tools, the process must be completed without contamination which requires extreme care and focus. Overall, my experience was quite formative as it was my first job and overtime it became my first full-time job. Show less

      May 2021 - Oct 2021
      Nhs test and trace agent

My role at Customer Experience People (CXP) involved mostly remote work on the NHS Test and Trace campaign. NHS had outsourced work to several companies, including CXP, to carry out this campaign. I was hired to use an NHS provided system to identify new cases of COVID-19 and make contact with the individual with a positive test in order to acquire information from them. Additionally, I would advise individuals on their queries and if needed simply talk people though their situation if they were worried or distressed as was often the case. Calls would last between 15 minutes and 2 hours, often calls could last longer as individuals reacted in a range of ways including, mistrust and agitation. Particularly, challenging calls tested my interpersonal and service skills to make cases comfortable enough to provide their information and to continue to interact with me. Show less

      Supervisor

I started working at the Glasgow University Union as a way to keep myself going financially during my studies, I worked there since October 2021, excluding university summer breaks when I took on different full-time jobs elsewhere. I was quickly promoted to Supervisor, my team ranged from 4 - 7 people working in both events and bars. I was involved in helping organise, promote and deliver events. I am experienced greeting and working with artists on the night to make sure everything runs smoothly, this includes helping with setup and generally assisting them and their team. I worked with artists including but not limited to Scouting For Girls, Fuse Odg, Danny Rankin and The Hunna. Show less

      Fundraiser

During my time at Wesser Fundraising over my university summer break, I worked full-time going door-to-door on behalf of Wesser’s charity clients. As we operated throughout central Scotland, I was the team driver responsible for keeping and maintaining a company car. Calling on between 80 and 130 doors a day, I would introduce myself and the charity I was representing to those who were happy to speak with me and attempt to persuade potential donors to sign up with me for monthly donations ranging from £5 to £50. This experience massively developed my sales, negotiation and persuasion skills. I am became confident in a results and target driven role as I worked for base pay plus commission and I understood that if I failed to attain new donors I was not contributing to the team and could be dismissed. I managed to maintain my role until my university course resumed, I then returned to-my part time role at Glasgow University Union. Show less

      Business sales consultant

At Croner I spent most of my day on the phone consulting with new potential and existing clients about their business and help them identify issues within their business primarily concerning employment law and health and safety. My primary responsibility was speaking with business owners and directors about their issues and negotiating a contract on them how we can help and advise them in future, with the goal of onboarding them as a new client and bringing revenue into the business. My secondary responsibilities were managing our CRM and assisting my assigned business development manager (BDM). I manage my BDM’s diary, contact clients/prospects and send invites for meetings and update the CRM database for their leads and opportunities as well as my own. Show less
