This involves leading a small group each shift, handling money and ensuring the visitors’ get the best experience on entering the Birhplace. The role includes money handling, changing and ordering of change and ordering of stock. Along with all the admin and day to day tasks I feel one of main roles is motivating and encouraging the team in order to reach daily, monthly and annual budgets and targets. I actively have sought out methods for motivation including data capture on an hourly basis and introducing personal strike rates to visually show the successes and room for improvement oand processing and welcoming groups to the Birthplace, selling tickets to the vast amount of visitors and selling guide books all with a friendly enthusiastic welcome and always ensuring the safety of all staff in my team and visitors within the Birthplace Visitor Reception and exhibition.I have taken on the introduction and implementation of Volunteers into Visitor Reception to support and assist the smooth running of visitor welcome and explanation of tickets prior to reaching the ticket desk. I am the first point of contact for all volunteers sorting out their shifts and times and inducting them into the Trust on their first day going through health and safety, fire safety within the work area and assembly points, evacuation procedure and introduce them to key members of staff. In order for Volunteers and new starters alike to understand clearly what the Trust stand for and the expectations on them as the first face of a visitor’s visit, I created the induction pack which is useful to refer back to but a great starting point.
