  The University of Manchester, UK funded a research project led by Dr Patrick Gallois, which aimed to manipulate Programmed Cell Death (PCD) for crop improvement.   The Higher Education Commission funded a three-year multidisciplinary PhD research project in collaboration with the governments of Pakistan and the United States. During research I focused on stress physiology in Pakistani arid climates, and was closely synchronized with the climate of California. A large statistical data set was generated and analyzed using computer-based software, and the findings were transformed into a PhD manuscript and paper publications. Recommendations were also prepared for the farming communities of both countries to mitigate citrus drought stress .Research covered gaseous exchange, moisture stress, water uptake, tree growth, nutrient analysis, IR gas analysis, chlorophyll fluorescence, soil nutrient analysis, botanical nomenclature, Vascular bundle observations by electron microscopy; morphological , biochemical & analysis; hydraulic conductivity; water potential and citrus rootstock evaluations.Findings were published in form research papers and manuscripts.
