  Analysis, audit and data maintenance intern

  Completed two twelve week graduate internships, during which I used a variety of excel formulas, pivot tables and charts to produce reports for OFSTED, management, and academic staff. An additional requirement involved answering queries and advising academic staff and senior managers had regarding the sets of analysis produced. Reports included visual and written analysis to accommodate various user preferences and tell the story in the data. Prior to distributing reports, I conducted thorough checks on data to ensure complete accuracy and solved problems as soon as they were discovered. Identified areas for improvement within the report building process, in preparation for developing a new more efficient process. This involved documenting ideas, working with colleagues from other departments and discussions during meetings with my supervisor and senior management. Prioritised tasks and maintained flows of communication to ensure all deadlines were met, as more than one report needed to be produced within the same period of time. After completing both internships, I accepted their offer to assist the Student Support Office for a further two months. In addition to daily administration, I responded to student queries, which required the ability to work on sensitive and confidential information at a legal and professional standard.   Use of Sage and Access to assist the Purchase Ledger Team process high volumes of invoices, to deadline. This involves following internal procedures and understanding accounting principles. Customer service skills are used whilst discussing payments with suppliers, to help maintain and build positive relationships. To support the team during the end of year account preparation, I worked additional hours and over the weekend. Collate, verify the accuracy and then send invoices, for the Sales Ledger Team. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, communication and time management, to meet weekly targets and ensure funding is received promptly. As accuracy is a key priority, attention to detail and detailed knowledge of each service is required. Problem solving and initiative maintained by investigation issues until a resolution is identified and agreed. Reconcile client and government council accounts, on an annual and ad hoc basis, to ensure all periods have been invoiced for and comply with contract terms. Show less

  Started out in Trade supporting the Control Manager, by monitoring account activity and adherence to internal policies and procedures. Communicated outcome of checks by creating reports that were sent to managers within Trade Services and other stakeholders. Liaised with the relevant teams to investigate the root causes, resolve and, where necessary, escalated detected risks. Liaised with Front Office, Financial Crime and Trade Finance teams to implement a new customer risk assessment form, to comply with Anti Money Laundering (AML) regulations. During the implementation and attending AML Champs meetings, I acquired knowledge and experience of dual use goods, export licences, red flags, screening counterparties and used influencing skills when challenged about the customer risk assessment form. Knowledge of Trade Finance products gained through product training and experience of processing Trade Loans, which included performing AML checks on transactions. Whilst on the Trade Loans team I took on additional responsibilities. For example, AML Champ. Over the last two years I have been working on the Financial Crime team within Trade Services; reviewing transactions. Use the Risk Based Approach (RBA) and Know Your Customer (KYC) to review and when necessary escalate transactions. I can complete the task whilst keeping various stakeholder requirements in mind. Taken on additional work to support my colleagues. This is made up of training colleagues, updating templates to implement the latest country risk list, reviewing guides, resolving errors in Excel spreadsheets and took on the role as Global Engagement Survey (GES) representative. The latter involved liaising with the Head of Trade Services, Team Managers and GES representatives in Trade to collate and present GES survey results. Show less
