  As a Health Career Opportunities Pipeline Program Scholar, I have the ability to immerse my self in various field within healthcare as well as gain guidance as a black women pursuing a career in healthcare. As the NCC of Spelman College’s RHA, I will have the responsibility of representing our residence hall association at regional and national conferences. I will also make sure the RHA standards are up-to-date at Spelman College. During freshman year conducted community service with Bonner Scholars Program at KIPP Strive Primary School. Plan on volunteering at Good Samaritan Health as well as other Health institutions. Participated in a social science lab concerning black maternal health, collected data concerning their treatment within a hospital setting. Currently, working on programming to implement into next year’s lab. The Health Careers Program is an advisory group focused on healthcare professions. We participate in conferences and general body meetings. Gained insight on numerous healthcare professions.

  As a member of the Co-Fundraising Committee, I and my constituent will work together to create fundraisers that will generate funds to be sent to the Atlanta chapter of Operation Smile. Operation Smile is a non-profit organization that works to provide medical procedures to patients in developing countries who deal with problems concerning cleft palette or cleft lip.

  Performing research with BRUSH Program at Michigan State University. Focusing research on bladder compliance and looking at the effects Compound 48/80 has on Matrix Metalloproteinases enzymes in the bladder (a contractile organ that aid in the function of urination). Research could lead to solutions when dealing with overactive or underactive bladder dysfunction.(Biomedical Research for Undergraduate Student in Health Sciences Program)
