The use and quality of soil and water resources are intimately linked and must be understood together. The studies prepared me for the challenge of developing land and water management while minimizing negative impacts on the environment and health. It gave me a sound understanding of pathways for water, nutrients and other elements through soil and plants to the atmosphere or through soil to ground and surface water. I was trained to evaluate the impacts of agriculture, forestry and urbanisation on soil and water quality and to design and apply proper management methods to achieve important environmental objectives.The master's thesis was a successful accomplishment. I did my own original research, based on my own vision, after finding funding from the private sector. It received highest grade and the praise of the examiner. Show less

2016 - 2017Precision fertigation in horticulture under semi-arid conditionsI was recruited by the Agricultural Research Organization (ARO) of Israel, to lead their project about almonds fertigation for improved growth and yield. For this project ARO partnered with Ben Gurion University of the Negev, and I was positioned with a secondary office for my research at their campus as well.

Overall there was a strong environmental oriented profile on the education. Actually if I had wished, I could have written my thesis in environmental sciences in the master's programme, but I choose soil sciences for two reasons: first of all that is where my interest lies, and I want to enrich the sector of soil and water management, and secondly I wanted to keep the agricultural connection. In my opinion a terribly good combination!The master's thesis was a success, it received highest grade and the praise of the examiner, and I received encouragement from people involved to submit it for peer-review and publication in a scientific journal.
