  Primary responsibilities included teaching English and social subjects to students between the ages of 7 and 10. Ten hours per week spent with a class of teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 who had a range of learning difficulties, including dyslexia.

  Delivered a range of educational and therapeutic programmes on an individual and group work basis with young people and their families to complement the work conducted with the residential social care and education services. Much of this work had a cognitive-behavioural focus, aiming to help young people change unhelpful beliefs and thought patterns which, in turn, enabled a change in emotions and, ultimately, a change in behaviour. Provided written evaluation of each completed group work programme, together with an individual report on each young person participating. Contributed to LAAC review reports, reports for the Children’s Hearing system and end of term reports for each young person. Show less

  Coordination of psychological assessment, formulation and risk-led intervention/care planning for young people placed within the residential school, through-care/aftercare services and JMT Fostering. Working closely with service users, their families and external professionals (social work, educational psychologists, GPs, psychiatrists, CAMHS, etc) to ensure collaborative care planning. Chairing monthly Child's Plan Development Meetings for service users in line with GIRFEC wellbeing indicators, with attendees including the young person, family member, social worker, educational psychologist, case manager, key worker and key teacher. Involvement in HR procedures including fact-finding investigations and disciplinary proceedings. Regularly involved with recruitment procedures including interviewing and selection. Responsible for the training and development of care, education and psychology staff in therapeutic frameworks including cognitive behavioural therapy and attachment-based practice . Instructor for Safe Crisis Management (SCM) Europe, delivering staff training on behaviour management (including functional behaviour analysis) and physical intervention strategies for adolescents in crisis.
