      I aided in research projects focused in the fungi pathogen Monilinia spp. in peach. I was also involved in studies from companies which consisted in the application of funguicides and in a later evaluation of their effects against different peach pathogens. Thus, the techniques developed were the application in of inoculum in fruit from different pathogenic fungi, the preparation of culture medium for fungi, identification of fungi by optical microscopy and seeding fungi. Moreover, I also collaborated with the Molecular Department, concretely in the European project entitled: "Predicitive diagnostics based on gene expression for rapid assessment of crop load programs and bitter pit discover in apple fruit". Mainly, I was extracting and analyzing RNA from distinct apple samples.

      The thesis project I was involved consisted in obtaining a multivalent, peptide-based vaccine against distinct influenza virus. For that purpose, potential immunogenic peptide sequences were tested using different strategies as a vaccine in protective studies in swine, chicken and mice.       Gaining experience in the Baculovirus system for protein production/purification. At the first stage, there were developed cloning techniques to obtain the donor plasmid with the sequence of interest, later on, transformation and transfection techniques were carried out until the Baculovirus harbouring our epitopes of interest were obtained. At this stage and when the titers were determined (by titration), larva and pupa from Trichoplusia ni were infected with those Baculovirus. After their collection, the infection was controlled by protein extraction protocol, Western-blot and Coomassie gels. Then, purification was developed using cobalt columns. Extracts and purified proteins were cuantified using Western-blot techniques thanks to a known cuantified protein. All final products were liophilized and were further used during the thesis work.       Learning how to obtain Pseudovirus of distinct HPAIV subtypes. Pseudovirus of different influenza subtypes were developed. Primer designing, cloning techniques, transfection, virus titration and flow cytometry were the techniques which were mostly used.
