      Research assistant

Fresh out of college, this position added experience to my largely knowledge-based scientific background. Working under a plant physiologist, I supported the Forest Service’s on-going research and mapping of below-ground productivity of forest ecosystems throughout the Southern Appalachian Region of the U.S. through the physical interpretation of soil core samples and computer analysis using a variety of mapping, GPR processing, and imagery software applications.

      Biological assessment program coordinator

My career as an environmental professional in New Hampshire began as the biological assessment program coordinator for the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. Working out of the Pease office, I conducted field investigations within New Hampshire’s coastal watersheds to determine river sites appropriate for biological sampling based on local interest, formal ‘assessment unit’ considerations, and applicability of sampling techniques. Upon identifying the sites, I interacted with volunteers, students and municipalities while offering an educational opportunity to reinforce the link between aquatic biological communities and waterbody health through the in-stream sampling of macroinvertebrates. Upon completion of my field work, I shared the results through numerous public presentations and reports published by the NHDES. Show less
