Foundation design – produce documentation during the initial game creation stage ranging from storyline and scenario (both in the form of synopsis and a more detailed text), to gameplay foundations and building blocks (major design and gameplay elements and benchmarks)2. Level conceptualization and design – create and/or oversee every step in level build up from the creation of the gameplay concept, through laying down and refining a graybox design, collecting and detailing reference material for the artists, supervising the transition of the graybox design into a fully-fledged level, to implementing the gameplay design for the specific level3. Game mechanics design – producing design and technical documentation for gameplay mechanics ranging from opponent behavior, through minigames, memorable sequences, cutscenes, to asset lists and reference sheets4. Evolution design – analyze the game loop and user data/feedback in order to improve on the existing game ecosystem by both refining/streamlining the existing infrastructure and also enriching it with useful new features that help both user acquisition and retention5. AI design – define and specify the logic behind opponent behavior, utilizing a layered approach based on action prioritization, probability factors and external influence and conditions6. Balancing and bug fixing – create and tweak game balance features (economy, unit properties, campaign progression and difficulty, etc.) as well as fixing bugs as part of game/update beta to gold process7.
