      Sept 2012 - Jul 2022

Primary goals as Director of Grid Integration are three-fold: -Influence Grid Integration Policy - I am deeply embedded in state-level policy initiatives in MA, NY, and CA, where there are opportunities to influence interconnection standards or shape grid integration initiatives to help large-scale distributed solar. -Drive Business Development - When state-level engagements create tangible results and new market opportunities for Borrego, I call attention to them, lead the Sales department to them, and provide technical support and in-roads with utilities in pursuit of new business. -Be the channel between Policy, Sales, and Engineering - Internally, I facilitate bi-directional flows of information between the Policy, Sales, and Engineering groups on topics surrounding interconnection, interconnection policy, and grid integration. I work both independently and in close collaboration with Business Development, Sales, and Engineering leadership, leveraging my focus on grid integration to accelerate projects, open new market opportunities, and ensure that the company capitalizes on them. Show less -Manages the interconnection of all East Coast projects, comprised of over 150 projects simultaneously in project development, on-going construction, and commissioning/final authorization. Develops company-wide, interdepartmental Standard Operating Procedures for interconnection and utility management in all service territories.-Responsible for strategic the implementation of utility, and program-specific designs. Develops template designs that meet utility interconnection requirements and standards for equipment type, metering, control and supervision, and protection and relay elementary, which is then adapted by the design team on a project by project basis.-Responsible for all Power Systems modeling and reporting. Conducts studies and prepares final reports for: Relaying and Coordination, Effective Grounding and Zero-Sequence Current Mitigation, ArcFlash, Relaying Event Incident Analysis-Reviews electrical design of multi-megawatt PV facilities, and works closely with senior design engineers on regional, utility, and site-specific solutions under NEC. -Works closely with Borrego Solar’s Business Development and Project Development teams to forecast potential interconnection policy issues, helping optimize proposed systems to different markets and incentive programs.-Lends expertise to the Resources Group (an internal team of engineers), by developing innovative solutions that will comply with the various utilities’ technical requirements in less mature solar markets.-Through MA DPU Distributed Generation Working Group, coordinates with local utilities and DOER to improve interconnection application process and guidelines.-Responsible for the technical integration of utility-grade generation facilities. Focuses on the interconnection of a solar power installation to the existing utility grid, relaying and protection schemes, and the overall impact the energy solution’s output will have on existing infrastructures.
