  Volunteer tutor

  As a tutor, I worked one-on-one with a student after school to build literacy and math skills while practicing the common funds of knowledge education practices. This included incorporating the bilingual skills and community identity of the student into our work to promote a global education. I also planned and executed a Halloween Storytelling Festival for the month of October for the students.

  Train dispatcher

  While a train dispatcher I worked directly with apprentices teaching them dispatcher responsibilities and provided weekly reviews with ways to improve. I coordinated between multiple departments across various states to dispatch trains while ensuring worker safety and adherence to federal rules, laws, and procedures. By applying data standards to the dispatcher library, assisting peers in uploading information, and evaluating information for accuracy I improved knowledge sharing and cross training for over 400 dispatchers and managers. I also worked to focus situational awareness to maintain worker welfare and was recognized for my positive safety impact and record with multiple awards both from field employees and my managers.   My primary focus a supervisor is to ensure safety of workers and the public during the construction, testing, movement, and maintenance of railway and rail vehicles both for my direct team of 20 Operation Control Center team members and 2-50 field employees. I am still a representative for the Operations Control Center as a safety board member with roughly 12 of my peers from other work groups. Acting as point of contact for safety concerns and communications for my team and other employee groups allows me to improve the work place safety on a site wide spectrum. As a supervisor I am still creating, editing, and implementing operating procedures for normal, degraded, and emergency modes of rail operations while adding in study preparation tools, test guides, and the qualification processes for several roles inside my department.
