      The Essex Human Rights Review is an online publication hosting a variety of academic articles, on contemporary human rights issues, from a number of disciplines. My duties included reviewing and editing submitted articles; recruiting and coordinating editors; and organising and providing training sessions. In July 2008 the EHRR published its first hard copy, a Special Issue to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the University of Essex Human Rights Centre.

      Among my duties there was the researching the policing structures of Italy, with specific attention to the existence of police guidelines on stops, searches and policing ethnically diverse populations; researching the ethnic minority and immigrant populations of Italy and the attitudes of the majority population towards the ethnic minorities and immigrants; reviewing, analyzing and summarizing key findings of existing national and international research on evidence of practices or perceptions of ethnic profiling by police in Italy, and of ethnic disparities in criminal justice that indicate the prevalence of discrimination and probability that profiling in stops and searches is taking place.       My duties included conducting a research on the dichotomy between freedom of expression and prohibition of racism, in particular looking at how the media and public authorities use of freedom of expression might foment racism. Furthermore, I researched on the status of Roma minority in Italy, with an analysis the reasons for their exclusion from the law which established the recognition of 12 other minority groups in light of international obligations. In addition to this, I worked on a research on the status of cultural rights and the right to culture in international law and in constitutional law. I also made a detailed report of any matters relating to the safety of the group (eg, vehicle and road condition, equipment hired etc) and also unusual incidents which in my opinion caused tension or disagreement within a group - particularly in the case of what is or what is not included in the cost of the tour and any disagreements with any client, or between any clients.
