Studying International Development for a semester at the University of Waterloo was an incredible learning experience. I achieved a major average of 85% within the first semester of the program. Although the subject matter was very insightful and made me better understand the world from an economic development point of view, I chose to transfer into business at the University of Windsor to pursue a career in Human Resources.

      Dec 2014 - Jul 2020
      Administrative assistant and marketing manager

This role enabled me to interact with patients on a day-to-day basis through in-office patient management and processing payments and scheduling appointments within the PMP patient scheduling software program. In 2015, I was tasked with revamping the business’ Facebook page along with launching the company’s LinkedIn, Twitter, and Google Business accounts. Each week, I managed these social media accounts and coordinated value-adding posts and blogs to the business’ website. I love coming up with new in-office and online marketing ideas and launching these campaigns through web advertising, social media marketing, print materials, and word-of-mouth promotional initiatives. Successful campaigns that I have developed and ran in the past include 2016's “New Year, New You” promotion, 2017's “Spread the Wellness Campaign,” and 2019's "#LiveWell Photo Contest." Show less

    • Highbury canco corporation

      May 2016 - Sept 2016
      Human resources co-op student

This was my first job working in Human Resources and definitely solidified my love for the field. As the Human Resources Co-op Student at Highbury Canco, I was able to assist in the entire recruitment process for over 200 seasonal general labourers. I was also in charge of managing the organization’s incoming resumes and assisting the department in setting up interviews and conducting reference checks for applicants looking for full-time positions. Other administrative duties included tracking employee performance evaluations in Microsoft Excel and coordinating their completion with appropriate department supervisors, processing employee benefit packages, and updating personnel files within AT Server. When I was tasked with helping to plan the company’s Annual Job Fair, I decided to create an engaging “Welcome to Highbury Canco” slideshow presentation to entice candidates to want to join the company. This presentation was later used within the company’s orientation training program. Show less

      Human resources co-op student

I am very grateful for my experience at ENWIN and the trust that was given to me as an HR Co-op student. This role truly allowed me to gain practical experience related to Human Resources. One aspect of my role involved managing the entire attendance management program and tracking individuals within various departments who were in breach of the company’s attendance policy. Another aspect of the role that was a great learning experience was being able to analyze the company’s exit interview data and formulate a written report and presentation on prominent trends spotted. This was to ultimately uncover any improvements that could be made to promote positive corporate culture and retention. The same was done in another interesting research project involving conducting market research on summer student compensation of comparable companies within Windsor-Essex County. Aside from just creating a formal report, I decided to formulate a presentation to present my findings to the HR Management team at ENWIN. The Human Resources team at ENWIN even entrusted me to participate in management-wide “Get to Know” presentations where I was able to introduce the keynote speakers and share what the Get to Know initiative was all about. Lastly, I was also able to sit on the organization's corporate wellness and social committees and play a key role in designing promotional material for events and creating content for ENWIN’s wellness boards that were updated on a quarterly basis. Human resources co-op student

I was incredibly excited to be invited to return for my final co-op term as the Human Resources Co-op Student at ENWIN Utilities Ltd. One of my favourite aspects of the role was being able to participate in leading the entire recruitment process for two professional, three summer student, and two co-op student roles. Another large part of the role involved creating training guides and presentations for the organization’s performance management process, attendance management program, and knowledge transfer program. I also had the opportunity to completely re-vamp the organization’s corporate orientation training presentation. To do this, I decided to gather and incorporate feedback from long-standing employees in various departments around the organization on why they loved working at ENWIN. This role enabled me to gain valuable experience in SuccessFactors Learning Management System and SAP. Finally, I was also a member within the organization’s United Way Campaign committee. I was responsible for tracking donor participants, attending corporate fundraising events, and designing the campaign’s promotional material. Show less

Business communications, master of management teaching assistant

This role allowed me to leverage my strengths and share my skills with international graduate-level students in the subject of Business Communications. On a weekly basis, I was responsible for conducting in-class workshops related to strengthening conflict resolution, crisis communication, business writing, and persuasive presentation skills. To make the weekly class planning process easier for professors, I created a binder that included tabs for each week that a workshop had to be done and organized materials related to that workshop accordingly. A copy was given to each professor to facilitate class planning. The students were incredibly grateful for the time I had given during these workshops, teaching assistant hours, and feedback that I wrote within their writing assignments and live presentations. It was an incredibly rewarding experience to be able to work with such an appreciative and ambitious group of students. Show less
