As a Research Fellow my work was focused on Utilization of Solid Waste for Treating Leachate. Inwhich, in-depth analysis of heavy metal adsorption rates of different materials and their characterisation was done, inorder to improve the efficiency. Worked under the mentorship of Dr. B. Hanumantha Rao, and done research in School of Infrastructure, IIT BBS.• Cost efficient and Eco-friendly methods for removal of heavy metals through adsorption was studied.• Adsorption rates of different soils namely clayey soil, silty soil and soils used in combination was established.• For this study the adsorption rates with respect to Ni, Fe, Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, Mn, Cr of different Solid wastes was noted.• Many natural wastes and their effects on treating Leachate have been analysed. [referring to workdone by Yun-Shan Ho et al., The University of Birmingham].• Also, the usage of Industrial solid wastes such as calcined brick powder etc., in treating leachate was studied.• Furthermore, the usage of plastic wastes and their role as adsorbent was considered.
